How Thales Optimized HSE and ESG Reporting Across 280+ Sites
Thales is a global technology leader with a presence in 68 countries and a workforce of approximately 80,000 employees. Headquartered in France, the company supports critical operations across defense and security, digital identity, ground transportation, aerospace, and space. With a legacy of innovation dating back to 1893, Thales continues to invest in cutting-edge technologies—including artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, quantum technology, and connectivity—to help governments, cities, and organizations manage complex, high-stakes systems that must remain secure and resilient under pressure.

Impact
- Implemented a flexible platform across 280 health and safety sites and 190 environmental sites.
- Streamlined Health, Safety, and Environment data collection and KPI tracking.
- Improved worker engagement and training adoption.
Outcome
Intelex enabled Thales to significantly improve the precision, efficiency, and scale of its environmental reporting. By configuring the system to meet its specific needs, Thales was able to:
- Customize environmental questionnaires to align with exact reporting requirements.
- Streamline data entry across global sites for both quarterly and annual campaigns.
- Collect and manage a high volume of data, including:
- 155 primary indicators per site in the quarterly campaign.
- 510 primary indicators in the annual campaign—totaling around 215,000 data points across all locations.
The Challenge for Thales
As a global provider of advanced technology solutions for critical infrastructure and defense, Thales needed a resilient and flexible digital Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) system to support its worldwide operations.
The company faced challenges with its existing solution, which lacked the customization and scalability required to manage complex, large-scale data—ranging from global environmental impact to safety and incident tracking.
With operations spanning dozens of countries, Thales required a unified platform that could adapt to regional needs while providing visibility into key safety indicators and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
“Intelex is more flexible than systems we’ve had before. It’s more adaptive and helps us achieve better improvement in our HSE maturity. We can evolve and make the system better year after year.”
Maxime David, HSE Management Coordinator
“Intelex has transformed how we collect and analyze data. What once took days of manual entry is now automated, allowing us to focus on improving safety and environmental performance.”

How Intelex Helped Thales
Intelex provided the enterprise HSE and ESG software solution that Thales needed to manage data across dozens of countries with varying regulatory requirements and safety maturity levels.
With customizable fields and region-specific configurations, Thales could tailor the platform to meet varying safety maturity levels and regulatory requirements across different countries. Key applications like Corporate Reporting for ESG and Incident Management were rolled out company-wide, while others—such as Environmental Aspects and Impacts and Job Safety Analysis—were deployed based on regional needs.
Intelex enabled local Health, Safety, and Environment coordinators to manage large volumes of data through import templates, significantly reducing the administrative burden on site managers. In its most recent reporting campaigns, Thales used 155 primary indicators quarterly and 510 annually—amounting to roughly 215,000 total data points across its sites. This scale was possible thanks to Intelex’s robust data capabilities and API integration, which also supports a company-wide BI dashboard for enhanced KPI tracking and performance visibility.
The system’s adaptability even allowed for the addition of region-specific features, such as fields to flag high-potential incidents. Intelex’s flexibility also earned praise from external auditors, reinforcing its credibility. Thales credits ongoing support from the Intelex Customer Success team and structured training programs with driving user adoption and helping embed a stronger culture of safety and environmental accountability throughout the organization.
