How Heraeus Uses Intelex to Transform Safety Culture

Heraeus specializes in metals and technology for many different industries, including automotive and medical. Heraeus is based in Hanau, Germany and has more than 16,000 employees at 100 sites in over 40 countries.

Summary

In 2019, Heraeus developed a new global Environmental, Health and Safety organization to serve the entire global business. This new Global EHS Framework was designed to improve the performance of incident response, enhance compliance and increase organizational awareness of EHS.

During the process of developing the global safety organization, Heraeus did an extensive analysis of its safety processes to find the root causes of any issues. The new safety approach, supported by Intelex, provided the opportunity to involve stakeholders from many different parts of the organization to ensure everyone provided input into the best way forward.

Heraeus’ new EHS system uses Intelex Incident Management, Risk Management and Action Plans to increase process transparency for stakeholders and to support the day-to-day work of the business.

Intelex Solution

Intelex has helped Heraeus to facilitate managing big data, running analyses, identifying trends and evaluating KPIs. A number of sites have also achieved certification for ISO 14001:2015 and/or ISO 45001:2018. They have reduced manual activities and helped Corporate EHS gain a position as a value generator that makes positive contributions to the organization’s strategy.
