AEP ranks among the nation's largest generators of electricity, owning nearly 38,000 megawatts of generating capacity in the U.S. AEP also owns the nation's largest electricity transmission system, a nearly 39,000-mile network that includes more 765 kilovolt extra-high voltage transmission lines than all other U.S. transmission systems combined. Altalink is Canada's only fully independent transmission company. They are responsible for the maintenance and operation of approximately 11,600 kilometres of transmission lines and 260 substations in Alberta. Enersource is one of Ontario's most trusted, reliable energy providers. The company serves almost 200,000 residential and commercial customers across Mississauga and helps to educate them on electricity safety. Ninety percent of Enersource Corporation is owned by the City of Mississauga, and 10% is owned by BPC Energy Corporation (Borealis), which is part of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System. Entegra owns and operates two of the largest independent power plants in the United States. Both plants, similar in size and design, are natural gas fired combined cycle facilities, each capable of producing approximately 2,200 MW of power and have been in commercial operation since 2003. The Gila River Power Station is located just south of Phoenix, Arizona and the Union Power Station is located in southern Arkansas. Entegra personnel, located onsite at each of the power plant locations, perform power plant operations and maintenance. Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) is the only entity responsible for distribution of electricity in the Governorate of Muscat. It is 99.99% owned by the Electricity Holding Company (EHC) and the remaining 0.01% by Ministry of Finance. MEDC’s main function is to build and maintain the necessary infrastructure for the distribution of electricity in the governorate of Muscat.
