Toronto-based software company wins National SME Employer Award for second consecutive year

TORONTO – Intelex, a leader in environmental, health, safety and quality software solutions has been named one of only 50 employers on the Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers List for 2015. The award is given to companies to recognize their outstanding achievements in creating exceptional and industry-leading workplaces. This is the second year in a row that Intelex has received this prestigious distinction. The Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers award comes on the heels of other recent wins including Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture received just last month.

“These employers are showing they can compete with larger companies when it comes to creating progressive workplace benefits and forward-thinking HR policies,” says Richard Yerema, Managing Editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project at MediaCorp Canada Inc. “The competition provides us with an opportunity to write about some very dynamic and interesting employers – these small and medium employers (SMEs) are often the workplace innovators when it comes to trying-out new HR and recruitment strategies.”

Now in its third year, the Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers list is organized by the editors responsible for the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, and it is intended to spotlight companies that have fewer than 500 employees. This award recognizes small and medium enterprises across Canada that lead the nation in creating exceptional workplaces with forward-thinking human resources policies. Employers are evaluated on eight criteria: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement.

As one of the fastest growing tech companies in Canada Intelex prides itself on providing a unique and fun culture to attract some of the brightest talent in the country. Core values like happiness, integrity and stewardship contribute to the feeling of comradery and collaboration that permeates the organization. Special perks like bring your dog to work day, free breakfasts and quarterly company outings have helped keep the team energized and engaged.

Intelex’s President and CEO, Mark Jaine credits the dedication of the employees, progressive Human Resources practices, social and community involvement, and a fun and challenging work culture as contributing factors for the recognition. “Our greatest asset is our employees; we work with the best people in the industry” says Jaine. “We take a lot of pride in what we do, knowing our solutions empower our clients to improve employee health and safety, the environment and product quality means a lot. It is a tremendous honor to be receiving this prestigious award for the second consecutive year. I would also like to congratulate our fellow award recipients on a job well done.”
